It's all a matter of what language skills you use and how well you use them. Understanding he connection between hypnosis and negotiations will give you a definite edge in all your relationships. I found a few good articles on a blog called Ian Brown Lee and I wanted to share this one with you because it goes through an entire session with someone and I think you'll learn a lot from it.

Improve Hypnosis Techniques and Negotiating Skills

Having taken a range of negotiation courses over the years, it appears that most negotiation training & trainers focus on a range of techniques and skills that emphasise their own role in the negotiation and not that of the other side. This lack of attention to the other side often leads to outcomes that are “acceptable” but are not “Outstanding”. The difference between an “acceptable” outcome and and “Outstanding” one is that an “acceptable outcome always leaves you feeling frustrated; as if you could have done better; angry with yourself or the other party. An “outstanding” outcome is one where you know that you have gotten the best result possible; you have expanded the pie and divided it fairly and look forward to the next challenge.

One technique that is often “known”, but little used is that of “Role Reversal”. In this activity, a person involved in the problem and who also knows the principal person involved in the negotiation on the other side is asked to put himself into the shoes of this other person and “imagine / visualize” how he perceives the problem. While the underlying concept is undoubtedly valid, a detailed methodology has been missing. I would therefore like to propose the following system which I have used over many years with great success.

There is so much to learn about hypnosis and I feel strongly that everyone needs to be a good negotiator so I was pleased to find this little exercise for you to try which may improve hypnosis techniques and negotiating skills you never knew you had.

Hyundai is Hoping Hypnosis Will Sell More Cars

These ads are for the Hyundai i30, or as we know it in America, the Elantra. They feature professional hypnotist Peter Powers, who does his best to hypnotize any consumers daring to watch the video. The video features a disclaimer that assures you ”Peter Powers has performed the hypnosis with suggestions of a positive and fun nature, a formal procedure for the removal of hypnosis and with no instructions to perform unlawful, negative or unseemly behavior.” Powers’ sow, calm voice tells us to fall in love with the i30 and that the headlights look like eagle eyes and the tail lights are just like the wind. It is clearly a little bit sensationalized for entertainment, but Hyundai is probably counting on some weak willed people to be enthralled by Peter Powers spell and run out and buy a new i30.

      Hypnotherapists Are Health Care Professionals

Hypnotherapists are health care professionals, trained to treat patients who want to modify behavior and improve their lives. Hypnosis is often combined with some other kind of therapy to bring about a change in the way a person thinks and behaves. I recently found this article on Hypnosis Motivation Institute that I think explains quite clearly what a hypnotherapist does.

      Hypnotherapiststs Are Health Care Professionals

What is a Hypnotherapist? This is a common question from individuals encountering the profession for the first time. While the media has increasingly presented the virtues of hypnosis for a wide variety of applications, rarely do they make the distinction between a Hypnotherapist and other health care professionals.

Many people assume that a Hypnotherapist must be a Psychologist or Medical Doctor. Hypnotherapist however, is a profession in and of itself whose scope and preparation is quite different from these other professions.

Only the Medical Doctor is recognized by the State to diagnose and treat medical disorders. Medical disorders can be defined as any symptom with a possible medical etiology; such as headaches, backaches, blurred vision, etc.

The Psychologist is the professional trained to diagnose and treat emotional and mental disorders, If medical disorders are the domain of the Medical Doctor and emotional and mental disorders the scope of the psychologist, what then is the domain of the Hypnotherapist?

The answer is technically called vocational and avocational self improvement. In simple language, these are things that do not qualify as a medical disorder or an emotional and mental disorder. In the scope of the health services, these are the little things. But it is the little things that the majority of Americans are struggling with.

In this country, two thirds of the adult population are overweight, one third smoke cigarettes and 70 percent suffer from some form of insomnia. It is probably even safe to say that 95 percent of the people you know would like to improve in some area or another. Sports performance, confidence, motivation and more are all the specialty of the Hypnotherapist.

Unlike Psychologists and Medical Doctors, the Hypnotherapist is the only professional specifically trained to work in these areas. In fact, the HMI graduate has more hours, length and depth of training in hypnotherapy than any other health care professional.

Hypnotherapists have come together across the country to work as a cohesive political group. To strengthen our political power we have affiliated with the American Federation of Laborers' (AFL/CIO) Office and the Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU).

This partnership has started the process of Hypnotherapists working hand in hand with the political machine of the AFL/CIO, OPEIU to pass a Hypnotherapist Registration Act in each and every state.

What Really Happens When You Use Covert Hypnosis?

        covert hypnosis

Everyone wants to know what really happens when you use covert hypnosis. We see many demonstrations of hypnotic techniques in training courses and in the media but it is difficult to accept how easily you can control someones thoughts. I'd like to share this excerpt from which clearly describes what covert hypnosis is and how it is used.

What Really Happens When You Use Covert Hypnosis?

Covert hypnosis is the ability to subtly communicate with another person's unconscious mind without their noticing. As it often takes place in the course of a seemingly regular conversation, it is also known as conversational hypnosis or sleight of mouth.[1] The objective is to change the target’s behavior subconsciously so that the target believes that they changed their mind of their own volition. When performed successfully, the target is unaware that the practitioner has hypnotized them or that anything out of the ordinary happened.

Covert hypnosis is a phenomenon not too different from indirect hypnosis (as derived from Milton H. Erickson popularised as The Milton Model [2]) in style [2] but the defining feature is certainly the act of an individual subject becoming hypnotised and taking part in hypnotic phenomena without conscious effort/choice - covert hypnosis, like "Ericksonian Hypnosis", "operates through covert and subtle means... to reach deeper levels of consciousness than are touched by the surface structure of language";[3] it is the concept that an individual, 'the hypnotist,' can control another individual's behavior via gaining rapport (co-operation of their attention - as without rapport covert hypnosis does not take place) [4] with the subject and then making suggestions, the meanings of which the subject isn't fully consciously aware.

Building rapport is a vital step if you want to use covert hypnosis effectively. Even if you know your subject very well you still need to get them to agree with you. To learn the techniques for that click here.
